KINGPIN

Grow it. Move it. Own the block.

One city. Every player on the same server. You start with a safehouse, thirty grams in the closet and one dealer named Marek. Claim corners, mix for the market, keep the heat down, keep the crew loyal, and take districts from everyone else who's trying to do the same.

How a night goes

Four things, in a loop that never quite closes

1

Grow

Plants ripen in the safehouse closet and in grow houses. Growers harvest. Seeds come in three strains, each with its own innate effect.

2

Move

Select a dealer, click a marked spot on the street, and customers start walking up. Runners keep bags full. Every sale is a conversation.

3

Mix

Order additives from a supplier. A crate lands a few blocks away. Anyone can grab it. A chemist in a kitchen turns product into something the district actually wants.

4

Hold

Sales raise heat. Heat brings patrols and raids. Hold a majority of a district's corners and it becomes yours: posts for your enforcers, better prices, and a precinct you can pay off.

What's in the alpha

The city is the board

Downtown with corner spot markers in green, gold and purple
Downtown. Corner spots marked by tier, Wall Street in purple.

Corners are the whole game

Every district has marked spots scored by foot traffic. Better spots cost more, pay more, draw more customers and heat up faster. Select a dealer, click a spot, done. A rival enforcer standing on your corner unopposed for ten seconds takes it.

Mixing is a puzzle, not a menu

Ten additives, each with a handful of transformation rules. Sugar turns Calming into Euphoric and adds Munchies. Stack them and chains open up to the rare effects that pay ×1.5. The rules are the same on every server, so chart them, trade them, argue about them.

Crew roster panel with names, traits, vices and cut levels
The roster. Two traits, one vice, a status line that tells you what's coming.

Your people have names, and vices

Hire from three named candidates. Everyone has two traits that change numbers and one vice that makes stories. Gamblers drift to the card room. Loose tongues name your stash in a bar. Pay short and it works, for a while. You will see the betrayal coming for three shifts before it lands. Whether you act is the game.

Turf. Hold the corners, run the district, pay off the precinct.

Take the district, then keep it

Hold more than half of a district's corners for twenty seconds and the streets turn your colour. Two posts open on its edges for enforcers. Prices go up fifteen percent. And the precinct takes bribes: three, six or twelve shifts with no patrols and no raids, for a price scaled to how good the corners are.

Heat · patrols above the first tick, raids above the second

Dealer busted: product seized, 10% legal feesBribed district: cops turn around at the line
A customer and a dealer talking on a corner with speech bubbles
Every walk-up is a short conversation about what you're actually selling.

Small talk with teeth

Customers ask for the effect they want. Dealers pitch the product they hold, by name and price. Matches pay a premium and the buyer hops. Mismatches walk away half the time. Busts come with a line from the cop. The city talks; the feed writes it down.

The map ends in water and desert, never in a wall.

One shared city

Downtown core, suburbs, industrial edges and parks laid out from a seed, with traffic, delivery vans and police cruisers. Up to thirty-two crews on the same server. Your crew is saved on the server and reclaimed by name when you come back.

Any GPU with Vulkan 1.1 (or Metal on Mac). 4 GB RAM. 400 MB disk. A keyboard and mouse; there is no controller support.

Network

The game talks UDP on port 24566 to kingdutch.elzeego.com. If you can't join, your network blocks outbound UDP; try another connection or Play Sandbox offline.

Alpha means alpha

The world may be reset between builds. Balance is deliberately harsh right now. Expect rough edges, and tell us about them with the build number from the title screen.

Playing

Join the world in a minute

  1. Launch the game. Type a street name. That name is your crew; use the same one next time to get it back.
  2. The server field is already kingdutch.elzeego.com:24566. Press Join World. (Or Play Sandbox for an offline game against AI crews.)
  3. Select Marek, click a marked corner spot on the street. He grabs the closet stock and starts selling.
  4. When he clears his first sale you'll be asked to pay him $60 or $30. There's no right answer. He'll notice either way.
  5. Hire a grower from the Crew panel (R) so the closet keeps harvesting. Then a kitchen, a chemist, and a supplier order.
